1. Prepare the Bib TemplateStep 1Draw a rectangle that measures 3 1/2in by 10 5/8in (9cm by 27cm). Draw the long edge of the rectangle so that it is on the side of the card. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Round the corners of the rectangle so that it resembles half an oval. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 3Measure 4 7/8in (12cm) down from the top of the rectangle. This is the bottom edge of the neck opening. Mark this point. Measure 1in (3cm) across from the drawn edge of the card (opposite the edge of the card). This will form the thickness of the neck edge. Mark this point. Form the inside of the neck by gently curving the bib between these two measures. Cut out your bib template. ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. Sew the BibStep 1Fold your fabric in half. Place the template on the fold. Trace the edges using tailor's chalk. Cut the fabric. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Repeat Step 1 for all your front and back pieces. You will need two pieces (one front piece and one back piece) for each bib. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 3Take one front piece and one back piece. Place right sides together and pin. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 4Sew the two pieces together with your sewing machine. Sew as close to the edge as possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 5Leave a space of 2in (6cm) at the bottom of the bib. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 6Sew around the edge of the bib using a zig-zag stitch to stop the edges from fraying. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 7Clip small notches evenly around all the curves. This will stop the fabric from bunching. Be sure not to cut into the seam. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 8Turn the bib inside-out so that the right side is now facing out. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 9Carefully press the bib flat. Press the seam allowance in the gap you left in step 5. This will make it easier to sew it closed later. ![]() ![]() ![]() 3. Finish the BibStep 1Sew the gap closed using a hand needle and thread. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Sew on the snaps or poppers using the hand needle. Place one snap on the front of the bib and one snap at the back. ![]() ![]() ![]() Bundle Up Your Bibs For BabyAnd you’re finished. Well done!
