![]() ![]() ![]() Moccasins are such a sweet trend right now. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to use some simple shapes to create a lovely baby-sized set of leather moccasins, perfect for special little feet. Supplies![]() ![]() ![]()
1. Cut Out The Moccasin PiecesStep 1Print a copy of the baby moccasin template onto paper or card. Be sure to print it at full size and not sized for printing. Cut out the template pieces. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Place the template shapes onto the leather offcuts. Trace the shape of the templates onto the wrong side of the leather using a fabric marker. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 3Be sure to cut out all the shapes twice so that you have two of every shape (one for each shoe!). ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. Make the Moccasin BaseStep 1Place the long rectangle piece over the oval piece, right sides together. Centre the rectangle so that the centre of the rectangle matches with the top of the oval. Pin in place matching the raw edges. Continue to pin the raw edge of the rectangle to the raw edge of the oval until the rectangle is pinned in place. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Sew the rectangle to the oval, sewing as close to the edge as possible. Be sure to use leather needles. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 3Turn the base right side out. Fold the top edge over by 1cm (0.39in) and pin in place. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 4Sew the top edge of the moccasin, sewing as close to the edge as possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() 3. Make The Moccasin UpperStep 1Centre the long edge of the small rectangle in the middle of the straight edge of the semicircle shape, wrong side of rectangle to right side of semicircle. The rectangle will not stretch all the way across the semicircle, so just ensure that it is centred. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Top stitch the rectangle to the semicircle, sewing as close to the edge as possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() 4. Attach the Moccasin Base to the Moccasin UpperStep 1Place the moccasin base down in front of you, right side facing up ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Place the moccasin upper, right side facing down, onto the moccasin base. Ensure the rectangle section of the moccasin upper is flipped up and is flat against the sole of the moccasin base. Match the two centres and pin. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 3Continue pinning the raw edges of the moccasin upper to the raw edges of the moccasin base. Keep the rectangle section of the moccasin upper free and unpinned. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 4Sew the moccasin upper to the moccasin base, sewing as close to the edge as possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() 4. Finish OffStep 1Turn the moccasin right side out. ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 2Cut evenly into the edges of the upper rectangle to create a fringe. ![]() ![]() ![]() Enjoy or Gift Your MoccasinsAnd you’re finished. Well done! These mini moccasins make a great gift for a baby shower or to keep for your own little one at home. Why not make a few in different colours? They’d look great in tan or dark brown, or perhaps a pale pink for a little girl. ![]() ![]() ![]() Do you like making things for babies? How did you find this tutorial?
