How to Make a Felt Flower (Rose)Technique 1: How to Make Felt Rose without GlueStep 1: Prepare Round ShapesWe’re using the smallest round shape from our template. Trace and cut out at least 9 round shapes from the selected felt fabric. ![]() Step 2: Prepare Half Circle CutoutsCut all the round felt cutouts into half. You’ll have a total of 18 half circles now. Each of the half circles are the rose petals for our craft. ![]() Step 3: Stitch Half Circle CutoutsWe’re starting with the sewed felt rose pattern first. Prepare needle and thread. Place 2 to 4 petal cutouts together by overlapping half with the next one. See the picture of this step to be clear. Simply work a running stitch along the bottom (straight side) side of the overlapped petal patterns. ![]() Step 4: Complete the Petal ChainOne by one add and stitch all 18 rose petal cutouts using the same strand of thread. After stitching the last petal cutout, do not cut off the thread or take out the needle, keep them as they are. ![]() Step 5: Start CoilingHold the closed end of the attached petals (or simply, start from the first petal). Neatly coil the first petal and continue to coil the next ones. ![]() Step 6: Complete the CoilingCoil the entire attached petal chain. Keep the coiling neat and even. Now, we have the rose pattern. ![]() Step 7: Stitch the Bottom SideAfter reaching the end of the petal chain, flip the rose pattern to its bottom side but do not let go of the coiled petals, hold them firmly. Use the attached needle and thread to stitch the bottom side of the rose pattern criss-cross wise to secure the coiled pattern. ![]() Step 8: Secure and Cut Off Extra ThreadWe worked a criss-cross stitch 3 times, covering the whole bottom part, to make sure that the coiled pattern is nice and secured. Once you’re done stitching the bottom side of the felt rose, you can cut off extra thread if required. This was the sewed rose pattern. Check out the next technique for the no-sew rose pattern. ![]() Technique 2: How to Make Felt Rose with GlueStep 1: Prepare Round ShapesTrace and cut out rose petals as we did for our previous technique. Take 2 petal cutouts and join them together halfway through, Attach the next petal with the 2nd one halfway through again. Similarly, attach every next petal by overlapping half of the previous petal. ![]() Step 4: Complete the Petal ChainKeep attaching the petal cutouts one by one. Make sure to keep the petals aligned along the bottom side (the straight side) while atatching them. ![]() Step 5: Start CoilingYou can start coiling the no-sew petal chain from either end, it won’t make a difference. Keep the coiling nice and even. ![]() Step 6: Complete the CoilingAfter reaching the last petal of the petal chain, apply a drop of glue and attach the last petal with the coiled pattern. No need to secure the bottom side of the rose for the no-sew rose pattern.
